Colloquium: St. Augustine and the Journey of the Soul
Life as peregrinatio
in Honor of the Revd. Dr. Robert Crouse
Join us for a one-day colloquium exploring St. Augustine’s vision of life as pilgrimage in conversation with the distinctive voice of the Anglican theologian the Revd. Dr. Robert Crouse (1930–2011)—priest, professor, patristics scholar, and a world authority on Augustine and Dante.
Whether your interests lie in patristics, medieval literature, philosophical theology, or practical ministry, this colloquium offers a rare opportunity to encounter Augustine through a teacher who made the Christian intellectual tradition feel like a single, living journey.
Tickets:
General admission: $40.00
Students: $20.00

The day will include:
· Exploring key Augustinian texts on peregrinatio, from the Confessions and City of God to the Sermons, read alongside Crouse’s spiritually rich commentary.
· Discussion of theology and philosophy as forms of pilgrimage: a journey of memory, desire, and reason toward the vision of God.
· Interactive engagement and a related visit to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
· A closing panel: “Pilgrimage Today: Theology, Philosophy, and Life in Boston.”
· A short liturgical closing in the form of Chanted Evening Prayer, drawn from the Anglican tradition Crouse loved.
Come prepared to read, think, and pray as pilgrims—together.
